Best of The Cisco Kid (35 Episodes)

OH CISCO, OH PANCHO! LET'S WENT.
This set of 3 discs offers 35 episodes of The Cisco Kid at a more than affordable price. Whether these particular episodes represent the "best" of the show is beside the point, who cares, what really matters is for a very low price lovers of this series get 35 episodes, mostly in color.

I have a couple other Mill Creek sets (Robin Hood and 20 John Wayne features) and for the price these folks issue very good products. Granted they are not always the best in quality, but then the low price off sets that for me.

As a kid in the 1950s I watched this series whenever possible, now thanks to Mill Creek I can re-watch these 35 episodes whenever I wish. I enjoy watching westerns, and I read on the west too, both fiction and non-fiction, and it is comforting to see two actors at the end of their long, respective careers in what for me is one of the best westerns series ever aired on TV.

The 35 episodes in BEST OF THE CISCO KID are from the show's first two seasons. Look here for both TV Lois Lanes from "The Adventures of Superman," early western serial specialist Kermit Maynard, Gail Davis (star of TV's "Annie Oakley") and character actor Denver Pyle.

THE CISCO KID was the first TV series filmed in color, although it wasn't broadcast that way until years after its demise. The Kid was loosely based on a 1907 O. Henry short story (he wrote "The Gift of the Magi").

From his earliest screen appearance in 1919, The Cisco Kid underwent some changes over the years. O. Henry's Kid was non-Hispanic and one mean hombre. By the time the movie series began in 1939, the character was portrayed by Cesar Romero, had become a good guy and had a sidekick named 'Gordito.' Romero made several Cisco Kid films until 1942.

The dormant series was revived three years later, with Duncan Renaldo in the lead. The Gordito character was replaced by Pancho...

Best Deal on Cisco Kid TV
The quality seems to be about the same regardless of price on these vintage 'Cisco Kid' TV DVD sets, so go with the best price, and most episodes for your $$. The quality varies from acceptable to pretty good. The color is faded, and fuzzy on several of these old shows. The sound is quite good overall. They are watchable and the nostalgia factor is very high. If you're old enough to have seen these originally,you'll feel like you went back to your childhood in the early 1950's. These are said to be from the 1st two years of the long running show [ ie. 1950 - 51]. Seemingly endless entertainment for a paltry price, my 9 yr. old grand daughter likes the mix of humor & adventure. Get this particular set while you can.
